Time for a post in English again, people have still not learned Swedish yet sooooo, I can't understand why, it's so simple, right?
Well, this weekend we visited Washington DC , me, Linnea, Sanna and Mathilda. We were there from Thursday to Sunday, though arrived at night and left at noon so there were technically only two days for sightseeing.
When we arrived at the hotel we thought it was super fancy and were so pleeeeased with our choice. We stayed at a Hilton Garden with indoor pool, nice carpets, a gym and great beds... though what we didn't realize until the next day when we were walking home in the afternoon was that we lived in the middle of the ghetto... AWESOME. And just across the street there was a club called IBIZA, sounds more fancy than I think it was. The whole weekend the police (popo as Linnea call them) closed the whole street during the night because of all the commotion that was going on every night - comforting. This time I felt lucky that Im not blond cause we got some strange looks while walking home and yeah we saw a murdered cat on the street.
To the sightseeing, first we visited the US Capitol, where the Congress meet and have Fikas (internationals google that). An awesome thing was that all the tourist attractions were for free so we could just pick places to visit without worrying about wasting money (thinking like a student). So we took a guided tour in the Capitol building with a 76 year old lady, she was funny and was probably born in the building, that's how much stuff she knew about everything.
After that we went to the Washington monument, Lincoln memorial, Martin Luther King memorial, the World War (both 1 and 2) memorials and of course dipped our feet in the pool in between all of those. We stood where Martin Luther king held his speech and where Forrest Gump did a shout out for Jenny - it was fantastic! haha.
Aaaaand after that we had to visit the White House. First impression, why is it so small? I expected it to be bigger, hmm. Well it was white and no of course we didn't meet him, however some roads were closed and POPOs were everywhere so someone important must have arrived while we were there.
And hey we found a rooftop bar (PING Zerina) on Saturday called POV with a view of the Washington monument, though we felt really misplaced, too fancy and too much old business men dancing to Justin Bieber - It got awkward.
It feels like I'm always ending my posts with what I'm blogging about the next time and that I have a ton of hometwerk so why change that now... I'm gonna start writing on my 10 page essay today that I have to turn in in 2 days #safeplanning and on Friday I'm going to Chicago with the Germans, probably gonna be insane. And hey on Thursday it's Halloween!
Pusspuss!
